When you find a good location, you return to the location again. And maybe again if the place is good enough, big enough and doggone it, really nice, then it’s worth returning. The Rural Albany Cemetery is all of those. Returning means learning and learning gives you an understanding of what is out there and what you might do to improve upon earlier attempts.
After thinking about it the night before, we decided that the images of statuary we photographed on the first day were kind of plain, and limited in variety. How to improve the quality of the images we pursued was a big question.
We answered that question by changing the approach to the subject matter by changing the premise to photographing the Cemetery as landscape with whatever monuments and statuary we found as additional elements to the compositions.
I think cemeteries are best photographed in the rain or in heavy overcast weather. But, with your photo journeys, you have to take whatever weather presents itself to you. It’s hard to create a dark and stormy mood on a sunny day. But, with your skills, I’m sure that you will make do, Joe.
Have a good trip.

I think cemeteries are fascinating and great subjects. I bought a print at Lazy Daze of a cemetery in Savannah. The boys think I'm nuts. But it's hanging in my dining room and I think it's awesome.
